Description
A stunning bell pull that would have connected to a bell or wire, which rang a bell when pulled. Used to summon staff in homes of people who employed butlers, housemaids, nannies and other domestic workers. The bell pull is one element of a complex interior mechanical network which, in bygone days typically involved a range of bell pulls in different rooms, connected to a central bank of labelled bells in a room where servants would wait to be summoned. 145cms by 17cms.
This stunning bell pull is thought to be 19th century and came from a grand hotel in Paris.
